Up-close feature: Swarovski Optik prepares to unveil new SLC binocular range in October
Since it was founded in 1949 by Wilhelm Swarovski, the brand name Swarovski Optik - has become synonymous in the development and manufacturing of long-range optical instruments of the highest precision in the premium segment of the market.
Now, in 2013, the Austrian company are preparing to unveil their new SLC range of binoculars, with one or two surprises.
The new SLC 42 and SLC 56 range of binoculars are promising to give birders enhanced views in the wilderness whilst the new SLC 56 range promises to offer a brand new, pioneering optical system that guarantees excellent performance even in the most difficult conditions.
Both the SLC 8x56 and SLC 10x56 stand out in particular when observing at twilight and during the night. SLC 8x56 binoculars allow you to see details on (for instance) owls and nightjars late in the evening.
The SLC 15x56 binoculars were designed for observing animals or birds that are far away when on their travels across distant landscapes, such as plains or deserts. They were made to be used for observing birds of prey in the prairie or a flock of water birds in close detail. These binoculars display important details that have remained hidden until now. Thanks to their extended depressions for improved grip, the SLC 56 binoculars have the perfect ergonomic design for observing wildlife for long periods, and also impress with their absolute stability both at night and when observing over long distances.
We caught up with Carina Schiestl-Swarovski, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of SWAROVSKI OPTIK, and she commented: “To constantly improve what is good: that was the guiding principle of our company founder, Wilhelm Swarovski, and it remains our philosophy to this day. Since the SLC binoculars were launched in 1989, we have therefore continued to develop this classic SWAROVSKI OPTIK product range. The new generation is synonymous with exceptional quality, ruggedness, and reliability that have been proven in observing wildlife. This is due to the advanced optical system used, with its state-of-the-art coatings and our proven HD optics, as well as the new design, as part of which we have attached great importance to making the binoculars extremely comfortable to use.”
The SLC multipurpose binoculars for observing wildlife have been proving themselves for more than 20 years while being used in the wild and in the harshest conditions. This has resulted in SLC binoculars with components that are perfectly harmonized with each other. Binoculars in the new SLC family are particularly impressive in terms of the high-contrast images that they produce. The finest details are visible even in poor (light) conditions. This makes them ideal for observing and identifying shy bird species or animals that you are usually unable to see due to their excellent camouflage.
Both of these binocular lines belong to the new generation of the SWAROVSKI OPTIK SLC family and will be available from specialist retailers from October 2013.
The RRP for each model is as follows;
